Right, as a friend of mine did this, I thought I'd share my views on something dear to me, Professional Wrestling.
Firstly, let me say I adore the storylines that are around at this time within the companies that I watch (WWE and TNA) but they are getting shallow and repetitive to me. After actually trying out wrestling, in which i gave up due to my insane unfit state, I can understand that some shots can hurt if done in the wrong way, and those chairs, they seem pretty real enough to me.
I like wrestling for the sheer thrill of the violence factor and the possibility of a brutal match, for example, I strive to watch events such as TNA Lockdown or special WWE PPVs with stipulations that involve weapons, and although many people think wrestling is fake, I am fully aware of this, and can say that although storied like a soap opera, there can be accidents that can lead to fatalities. The reason WWE say "Do Not Try This at Home" is exactly my point being shown at full.
The storylines in WWE at this time, with the walkout due to happen and Triple H not backing down from COO duties (at the time of making this post) seems to be very well thought out and ready for Vinnie Mac to return and re-take the company, also on Smackdown, making Mark Henry the champion is a great move, as Vengance is coming right round, and rumours are that Undertaker will be returning that night, some even say with his "American Bad Ass" persona, which in my opinion was his best besides the Lord of Darkness persona. Although that sounds farfetched and possibly unreal, I personally am hoping that Undertaker returns and makes Smackdown more thrilling again, while over on RAW, as much as I prefer the chaos of Triple H being COO, having Vince McMahon as a day to day runner is much better.
While all this is happening on that side though, TNA Wrestling are using Hulk Hogan (finally) to their advantage, somewhat trying to perceive him as a babyface that doesnt want to face Sting at Bound For Glory, although that match would be a classic, especially with the gimmick they have for Sting at this time, but as much as I respect Hulk and his career, I want him to take a back seat, like he originally was put in TNA to do, I want Dixie Carter to have her company back, and Jeff Jarrett to be a decent chap again, not an asshole, even though he founded the company, doesnt mean he has to be a tool to everyone, and be the person he probably is outside of wrestling.
TNA has always had that "Fan Interaction" feeling that WWE could only grasp at during the "Attitude Era" and at the moment, it seems like the mainpoint for TNA is slipping, for example, I am a firm believer that the 6-Sided Ring TNA originally had was way better than the 4-sided variant, and made for more high risk stunts from guys like Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles.
TNA has also got the ace for me with their main match for Lockdown each year, Lockdown is a fully cage based PPV, but the one match, the Lethal Lockdown match, is always a bloody massacre, no matter who is in it, someone bleeds and someone does something crazy on the cage top that is lowered to begin the match, it reminds me of the WCW War Games days, and how much it has moved on since.
Anyway, I could, like my friend, carry on all day about this subject, but I dont want people being bored now do I, so Bye for now!
Wrestling rants FTW!
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, they need better writers, not soap opera ones! -.-
